Nuit Infinie de Chanel Holiday Makeup Collection 2013……………….Haul
Late last year saw the release of the Chanel Holiday makeup collection. I have been trying to get around to reviewing the products for ages but only just managed to today.
Once again, i have fallen in love with a few items and here they are.
1. Ombres Matelassées de Chanel, Charming.
The star of the show and i have written a complete post on it, because it deserves it’s own post. View here. A gorgeous concoction of five neutral, universal, buttery smooth eyeshadows. Great for both day and evening wear. I love that Chanel have combined satin textures along with matte and sparkles. Great combination.
2. Illusion D’Ombre Long Wear Luminous Cream Eyeshadow, 837 Fatal.
Above left swatch with flash and right, without.
I am a huge fan of these eyeshadows. I just love them so much and this one is gorgeous. I wasn’t too fond of the other one in the collection because it was a lot like my Chanel eyeshadow stick 07 Moon River, so i gave it a miss. This one; however, is a unique plum/mauve shade with silver shimmer. Blends very well and applies smoothly. It goes very well with all my taupe shades, and i own a fair few and i cannot wait for the Spring 2014 release of the silver pink that Chanel are going to release, as this will also compliment it. A great shade for blue and green eyes.
3. Joues Contraste Powder Blush, 84 Accent.
Another winner. This is very pigmented for a Joues Contraste. Often i have felt that some lack intensity in pigmentation; however, not this one. It does have mild shimmer that transfers into a satin finish on the skin but i also press some on afterwards to maintain a bit of the sparkle too.
Described by Chanel as a pale beige pink. It transfers onto the skin with a warm slightly beige/bronze sheen with a hint of pink to it. I do really love this shade and it is ideal for the winter months. It also doesn’t fade during the day either. Love it!
Comparisons above show that the discontinued Enchanteresse, is very similar with a browner undertone and Orchid Rose has a more peach tone.
4. Cils Scintillants Sparkling Mascara Top Coat, Bronze Platine.
I wasn’t going to buy this because i already have a silver version of Lancôme Hypnose, which i purchased 4 years ago and love very much. As all of Chanel’s Holiday collections are limited edition, i thought i may as well go for it.
I am not disappointed either. Great in artificial light, because the bronze sparkles stand out, making it great for an evening out. A little goes a long way, so i would suggest only one or two strokes on the top lashes and one on base lashes. It can look a little too much otherwise. It applies really well over other mascara’s i use and didn’t weigh my lashes down at all. Great, fun product for the holiday, if a little gimmicky.
Another one i have dedicated a whole post to. View here. It is a beautiful true red shade with no blue, orange or pink base. A pure pillar box red. Iconic and classic from Chanel.
6. Poudre Universelle Libre Natural Finish Loose Powder, 77 Moon Light.
I just do adore Chanel setting powders. They are incredibly fine and a little is all that is needed to set the foundation in place, they never cake either. The holiday collection ones have sparkling shimmer in them and are ideal for the tops of cheekbones and also the collar bones and tops of the shoulders too. The shade this year is peach with golden sparkle. I also have the past two years ones which are beige and soft pink. Lovely!
Above left Moon River and Middle Féérie, which is a lovely soft pink with pink and golden sparkle. Right is last years holiday release Rêverie, which is beige with golden sparkles.
7. Liquid Eyeliner Intensity Definition, 117 Bronze.
The first ever liquid eyeliner i have owned. It is a lovely bronze shade and i couldn’t resist it. Once it is set, it stays put. Now, i just have to learn to have a steady hand!
There you have it. Another great holiday haul, if reviewed a little late. Did you buy anything from it or other collections? Have fun and take care. 😉
