Chanel Long Wearing Waterproof Stylo Yeux………….905 Smoky Grey, 906 Marron Glace and 908 Iris.
Along with the new release of the Chanel Les 4 Ombres Tissé, Chanel also introduced four long wearing waterproof stylo yeux.
These include 905 Smoky Grey, 908 Iris, 906 Marron Glace and 909 Bleu Metallique.
I bought the first three. The other one was a shiny metallic aqua blue shade which wouldn’t have suited my skin tone or eye colour.
Chanel have also changed the formula of the eyeliners slightly too. Before; they could be difficult to apply and needed slightly warming to get going. Now; they are much softer and very easy to apply.
I do not intend to use any of these three shades on my waterline, but it would be interesting to know how long this new formula lasts on the waterline.
It does last all day without fading when applied around the outer rim of my eye though, which is great news.
The Smoky grey is darker than Chanel waterproof eyeliner in Gris and is worth buying even if you own that one because it works so well with a smoky eye and the Tissé Gabrielle quad here. It’s very similar to Bobbi Browns Smoky eye Kajal Liner in Storm; however, it doesn’t have the metallic finish; in fact, it’s got a soft matte finish instead.
I believe this shade will be ongoing but Chanel usually go by their sales on making that decision, so we’ll see.
No negatives at all with this and it will suit blue, grey and green eyes.
Above left swatch is Chanel Iris and right is Guerlain Emilio Pucci Terracotta Khol Kajal pencil in 02 Blue Acqua
I use Iris with my purple and grey eye shades and it works beautifully. This eye pencil is very much like NARS Larger Than Life Eye Pencil in St. Marks Place. In fact, exactly the same. So if you own that, you won’t need this. I did have it but sadly it was broken inside and i had to throw it away. Let’s hope i have more luck with Chanel, which i usually do. Iris is a blue based purple shade. Looks great with grey and pink/purple eyeshadows and will be great with dark brown and blue eyes.
It is a bit more of an exclusive colour and i only wear it on the top of my eyelid as it would be overkill around the whole eye area. It has a lovely soft, ‘easy to apply’ formulation and stays put once applied.
No real negatives other than it will not suit every eye shade or skin tone.
This is a shimmery neutral brown shade. Will be great on every eye colour to give a more natural finish around the whole eye area or on the waterline for a smoky effect.
The only negative with this one is that i am told it is limited edition but once again, not too sure if that’s true or not and my SA at Chanel could not elaborate.
I am a huge fan of Chanel stylo yeux long lasting waterproof eye pencils and other than NARS and MAC, there are not many other high end brands which offer a lovely colour range either. My only real concern at the moment is that the formula is now much softer and takes a little longer to dry down and i’m not too sure if it will keep its famous longevity on the waterline; however, it does last all day around the outer eye area.
What are your favourite waterproof eye pencils? Have fun and i will see you all soon. 😉
