August Favourites………..Cosmic Cosmetics!

Hi Everyone,

Summer is coming to an end already. Nooo! I have been wearing some new products for the past two months. A lot of them from the Chanel summer Reflets D’Ete collection.

August Favourties

Ideal for the summer time, with lots of copper and bronze colours. Here are my favourites for the month of August.

1. Chanel Illusion D’Ombre Single Eyeshadow, 97 New Moon.

An absolutely beautiful coppery brown shade which works with almost every shade i own. A few bloggers made negative comments about the shimmer but Illusion D’Ombre eyeshadows are famous for their multi faceted shimmer and this one is just gorgeous and pigmented. It does have a touch of fall out but not a deal breaker and i now store my Illusion D’Ombres upside down to keep them soft.

2. Chanel Stylo Yeux Waterproof Long Wearing Eye Liner, 911 Ambre Doré.

Another coppery brown finish. I like wearing this one under my lower eye as it doesn’t really suit me around the top lid and is a little dark for the waterline.

I’ve noticed that Chanel have softened this pencil off quite a bit to aid application, making it smoother to apply.  It does take a bit longer to dry down but does not affect the performance at all and it still stays put all day without smudging. Below left to right is Ambre D’Ore swatch and comparisons to similar colours.

3. Diorific Perfumed Illuminating Powder Compact, 001. (Golden Winter Holiday 2013).

I love this powder. It does have some glitter to it but it’s super fine. Although this is said to be perfumed, it’s barely noticeable and no more perfumed than most powder compacts out there. The compact itself is collectable too. Gorgeous!

4. MAC Kohl Powder Eye Pencil. Raven.

Still one of my favourite eye pencils. I love it because it gives a rich brown coppery red colour to the eye and is very unique, has great staying power as well. Goes with all the coppery bronze makeup that has been popular this summer too.

5. Dior Fusion Mono Long wearing single Eyeshadow, 661 Météore.

This is Dior’s version of Illusion D’Ombre and i just love this shade in particular. It’s the perfect shade of golden copper and works well with blue eyes and i’ve been wearing it coupled with Chanel New Moon, mentioned above.

I have never had a problem with this one drying out either. It also stays put all day. I only wish they did more shades in this like Illusion D’Ombre. Dior have opted for more neutral colours with this formula.

6. Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water.

I have already reviewed it in full here. What a fabulous bargain. Gets rid of all traces of makeup in a jiffy and leaves skin feeling nice and fresh. I don’t use this to remove eye makeup because i have super sensitive eyes and i love Lancôme Bi-facil, but it’s said to be good for that also.

7. Palmers Cocoa Butter Formula Rapid Moisture Spray Lotion.

Great for when i’ve been aqua running. This is a nicely fragranced spray on lotion that is easy to use and dries down within a minute. No greasy after feel; however, my skin still feels lovely and soft. Also available with a bronzed shimmer finish and both are Paraben free. I love this one in particular and its very economical at £5.00/ 200gm or 7oz. Fab!

There you have it. Yet another month has sped by. What are your favourites for August?

Have fun and i will see you all soon. 😉

  1. have you tried putting ambre dore in the waterline? I think it looks amazing there. 🙂

  2. I was a fan of “eye shadows in a pot” all summer too! So easy to work with and the finish is beautiful! Loved all your picks! 🙂 xx
