Bobbi Brown Brightening Brick, Spring 2015; 02 Coral……………..Brighten Up That Sallow Winter Skin!

Hi Everyone,

Bobbi Brown is famous for her shimmer bricks. (She is also famous for other great beauty products too). They really do give a high shimmer highlight to the cheekbones. However; frosty shiny shimmers are not great for maturing skin like mine and a subtle ‘lit from within’ glow gives a more natural, flattering look.

Bobbi Brown has come up with the brightening brick that is a highlighter, blusher and mild bronzer in one.

Last Year, Bobbi Brown released the paler versions which acted as highlighters but this year i think she’s really got it spot on with the blush/highlight/bronzer hybrid.

There are six shades available, covering every skin tone and taste. I like four of them but i really adore just two that i know will work with my skin tone. They are Coral; which i am about to review and Tawny, a lovely muted mauve pink shade with a subtle frosty shimmer, which i plan to buy next.

The six shades available are;

Below left to right; Pastel Pink, Pink, Cranberry, Tawny, Coral and Pastel Peach.

The pastels are very subtle in colour and ideal for very pale skin tones or as highlighters only; Cranberry is much deeper; ideal for olive and dark skin tones or for a stronger pop of colour. The other three will suit pale to mid skin tones.

Brightening Brick, Coral.

I couldn’t resist these brightening bricks when i saw Tawny being reviewed by A Model Recommends video on Youtube, 5 minute Makeup Challenge. (Check her out, she’s fab and i love her channel).Β It just made her face completely light up and i was hooked in straight away.

Great skin with minimal work is very much up my street.

I was going to buy Tawny first; however, when Spring comes around, i go coral mad for some strange reason. I think it’s because, its such a bright warm shade and i am so sick of having sallow, grey looking skin over the winter, its a natural choice, to bring my skin back to life.

When i saw the Coral brightening brick, i fell in love.

Coral has 6 different shades as all the bricks have. From top left to bottom right these shades are; Deep coral with gold shimmer, brownish copper, pale peach/pink, pastel peachy pink, and pale beige/gold with high gold shimmer.

If you want to break them down and use separately, then you would probably need quite a small brush. It would be a bit difficult to work with. The idea is to take a large powder brush and press into all shades and lightly sweep across cheekbones and forehead.

This gives a beautiful peachy warm colour with subtle shimmer. Very multi-dimensional and a face which glows and looks healthy.

Final Thoughts.

I like the subtle colour pay off this brightening brick gives and it does work as a blusher with a mild shimmer for me when i press down hard enough with my large Chanel Brush. It also gives a warm, mild bronzed effect on my skin; however. I will still use a matte bronzer to contour with.

I was never a fan of the original shimmer brick. Far too much shimmer going on, which just isn’t for me. At the other end, i am not a huge fan of matte blushers either because they highlight the problems in my skin.

This is like the story of Little Red Riding Hood when she tries the three bowls of porridge left out for the bears. I have found one just right!

The brightening brick sits dead centre in between shimmer and colour. Not too much of either.

The Brightening brick is also great at making the skin come to life and look healthy. I can’t imagine anyone who is going to have a problem with these bricks, from young to old or light to dark. There’s a brick ‘just right’ for everyone.Bobbi Brown Brightening Brick 02 Coral

Oh Yes! almost forgot! There is no fragrance to it at all, so great for sensitive skin as well.

Have you had a look at the Bobbi Brown Brightening Brick yet? What are your thoughts on them?

Pictured right, i am using Chanel CC cream as the base and then the shimmer brick on my cheeks and forehead, Chanel Lip Defining pencil, 91 Rose DΓ©licat and Dior Rouge Baume Lipstick, 668 Cotillon.

Take care and i will see you all soon. πŸ˜‰

  1. This is a great post! I have considered purchasing the Brightening Brick, however I was unsure so I bought a Shimmer Brick instead. I think I will have to go out and get myself a Brightening Brick now! X

    • I have had to stop myself buying at least two more. I like that they are very versatile. They give a lovely finish to the skin which i have found hard to photograph. I have tried about 30 pics to show the loveliness of them but i can’t get the light right ahhhh. Try them out in store because they are gorgeous. Thanks for reading and commenting xx

  2. I think the coral one is my favorite
