August Favourites. Beauty and………………The Little Beasts!
I was going to do a July favourites; however, it just got too late in the month to publish it so; August has arrived and i don’t want to miss this one.
I have been getting more and more into photography this past two months and macro photography in particular.
I don’t own a macro lens at the moment, but i think my kit lens is doing a fair job while i’m still learning.
Spiders are my choice of subject and that’s because currently, there are many of them in my back garden.
They are the Cross spider or; Araneus Diadematus, and are common in the UK between June and November.
There are about 7 currently making massive circular webs and what is really unnerving is, when i get up close to them, they raise their two front legs at me as if to say, back off or else! Lol! (Yes, they do bite as well).
Previously, i mentioned to you that my favourites wouldn’t strictly be about beauty; however, here are some that i have been loving this past month.
Biotherm Blue Therapy Serum in Oil, Night.
Sadly, Biotherm (owned by L’Oreal) didn’t really take off in the UK and they pulled out of the market as a result.
This is a high end priced brand that produced natural products that were nice quality. This oil in serum in particular. It’s as good as the Estée Lauder Night Repair serum because it softens skin overnight and plumps out any fine lines. There is no fragrance present either.
The good news is that the products can still be purchased on the allbeauty.com website.
I am using up products that i have on my dresser that are half full as a cost cutting measure and i forgot how good this product is.
NUXE Nuxellence Jeunesse Youth & Radiance Revealing Care Moisturiser.
I had tried previous samples of this product and bought it as a result. It’s brand new and i love the packaging. It’s a twist up to open and down to close, which protects the moisturiser from air thus, stops the denaturing of anti-oxidants.
It’s a simple, light weight moisturiser which is good under makeup. It doesn’t have an SPF but the foundation i wear does.
Dermalogica Gentle Cream Exfoliant.
This is a fantastic product for cleansing and reducing pore size. It really works too.
I found out about this product from a Lisa Eldridge video. She said it is gentle and effective to use on models, who change makeup constantly for photo shoots and of course, she’s right. It is super gentle.
The active ingredients are; lactic and Salicylic acid, along with, fruit and plant acids. This tube has lasted me ages and i will be repurchasing.
It is probably the most effective cleanser in the hydroxy acid category i have used for pore reduction other than Glamglow Tinglexfoliate treatment mask.
Estée Lauder Highlighting Powder Gelée, 01 Modern Mercury.
I love this rose gold highlighter and have used it this past month while it’s still sunny outside.
It’s very subtle on my skin tone and is more prominent with a tan or on darker skin tones. If you missed out on this, not to worry; Victoria Beckham has included it in her collection for EL this Fall. It’s in much nicer black and gold packaging too.
These gelée powders are also widely used in Tom Ford’s ranges, (also owned by EL), so it will be easy to pick up if you can’t get it in VB’s collection.
Dior Mono Wet & Dry Eyeshadow, 658 Cosmopolite.
This is one of the best single eyeshadows i have ever owned by any brand. It just packs a punch. I haven’t even had to use it wet at all.
It’s a high silver shiny mid toned brown and great for the mobile lid. It works with most other colours i use because it’s quite neutral. A lovely creamy consistency for a powder that blends out very well and it hasn’t creased on me either. I do use an eye primer though.
This one has had a lot of use with different shades over the past month to create different makeup looks.
Dior Addict Hydrating Gel Core Lipstick, Sophisticated.
A lovely mauve/brown tone which packs a shine; ideal for Autumn/Fall.
I love this gel core formula very hydrating and gives the illusion of a slightly plumped effect to the lips. A bit like a lip gloss.
I have been playing around with this one the last months. Trying it out with different makeup looks. It’s a contradictory shade because it leans both cool and warm at the same time on my lips. I shall be testing this one out more before i decide which eye look it really goes with.
There you have it. My August favourites. I have just bought some extension tubes for my camera, (picture on my instagram account) so i can get even closer to the spiders before they die off for the winter. Oooh! I feel itchy ha!
Take care and i will see you all soon 😉
